A LONG while ago…we took a trip down to Penney Farms, Florida to visit Kara’s grandfather. He’s 90 and doesn’t travel anymore so we brought the party to him (or lack thereof, we’re not really partiers) for Memorial Day weekend.
Penney Farms is a retirement community. And it’s about 45 minutes away from Jacksonville and St. Augustine. In the time we didn’t spend with Grandpa, we took the liberty of hitting up the quaint Spanish city.
Look at da pretty lady!
Loved the Spanish architecture everywhere.
Of course we went in here. Who do you think we are?
St. George street is a shopper’s dream. Well, for touristy stuff. The coolest part is that the charm of the buildings have been left intact
Since we were going to be so close to the beach, we had to set aside one day to beach it up.
Me heading up the boardwalk. The red flag means high winds and the purple means dangerous marine life…..I think.
The beach was nothing short of beautiful. Extremely crowded unfortunately, but still beautiful.
Sea Turtle Nest!!!!
The tide was high and the waves were mean. I spent hours jumping/crashing into waves like a 10 year old kid. I haven’t had that much pleasure out of something so simple in years. Just me and the ocean.
Can’t wait to get back to A beach. SOON!!!!

Great pics (as always). The red flag would mean high winds (fire hazard) anywhere but the beach…at the beach it means hazardous surf conditions. That would be why the waves were mean and you felt like a 10 year old kid!
Some of your pics of St. Augustine remind me a bit of Albuqurque, NM. You really must go there and visit the old town. Great photo ops.
