Who Are we?
We are Kara and Remington Brown. We’re just two camera happy, travel happy, food loving people with nothing better to do than share our awesomeness with all of you! No, but seriously…we love to explore new places and revisit old ones, we love to come up with recipes and indulge in the food scene (local or otherwise). We are a little OCD (okay, Kara is) about researching new places in hopes of not missing out on the best stuff. Remington is a human GPS with a knack for figuring out how to get around. We figured why waste all of this wonderful insight and knowledge when we can share it with all of you!
We’ve been married since April 2008. We live in Knoxville, TN nestled near the Great Smoky Mountains and have pretty much our entire lives (so far). We both once thought we wanted to move away, but this place is growing on us, so we might just stick around.
We are Christ-followers in that we love Jesus and what he symbolizes – love, grace, sacrifice, atonement – that is not to say that we are high and mighty, or perfect, or holier-than-though. We won’t use this space to Bible thump, but our faith is certainly an inherent part of who we are and we will naturally talk about things related. If you you are ever curious and want to know more, we love to talk about it – contact us.
We welcomed our first child into the world back in December of 2016 after a year of struggles. You can read about that journey here and see our baby boy announcement here. It’s been a marvelous addition to our journey!
We have fur children as well. Pembroke Welsh Corgis to be exact. Their names are Dashiell “Dash”, and Dodger “Dodge”. We love them to bits! Because who could resist these faces?
We love to live healthy lives – being fit, being outdoors, eating clean 90% of the time. You gotta have a break in there somewhere (or at least we do).
Kara loves to bake; loves to eat ice cream; is learning to be a mommy; loves hiking; loves finding a good bargain; loves vintage furniture; loves modern French country style; loves classic British drama; loves Audrey Hepburn, and most of all loves R.
Remington loves basketball; loves his guitars; is learning to be a daddy; loves hiking; loves root beer (& real beer too); loves to grill and smoke food; loves Star Wars; loves his truck, and most of all loves K.
What’s Our Blog About?
This is a lifestyle blog about our journey and life’s many little adventures. We write about our travel adventures sharing our experiences, tips, travel logs, and reviews along the way. You will find everything travel related under the Travel section.
We love to eat! We often create new recipes or reinvent old ones and post those as well. Occasionally we’ll get the urge to write up cooking tips – these are little bits of knowledge we’ve found insightful as we’ve learned our way around the kitchen. All things wonderful and food related can be found under Food.
Locally, we’ve found a resurgence in the food culture in Knoxville, so while we often write up restaurant reviews in our travels we’ve also begun to share those local experiences with you. Knoxville has no shortage of new restaurants to try so if you are struggling with where to hit next, check our our Knoxville Eats section.
Under the Fun section, you will find a mash up of everything else from personal stories and local events like Greek Fest to product reviews and home projects. We moved into our house in 2012 and have slowly been renovating every square inch of it including a full kitchen remodel. We’ve shared many of those projects over the years and they can be found here.
