We don’t get much of the powdery white stuff in Knoxville, so when we do get even a few inches we get very excited! Last week, our little area of the world got caught completely off-guard by 4-5 inches of snow. It started at 10:00 and by 11:00 school was canceled, roads were covered and treacherous. By 12:00, everything was covered. It continued snowing until around 9:00pm and by then, we had well over 4 inches.
A rare site in the valley of East Tennessee. Somehow where we are situated means most winter storms hit just north or west of us and pass us by.
We did get the storm of the century by way of a blizzard in 1993. On March 12th a surprise storm formed the perfect elements as it moved northeast and hit Knoxville overnight. Little known fact, it was my 8th birthday, which turned into an all-weekend slumber party! My poor parents. We woke up to 12 inches at my dad’s house – the airport recorded 18 inches.
Another little known fact (well by non-Corgi lovers)? Pembroke Welsh Corgis LOVE snow. They do. They love it.
Epic derp face. Just look at it.
How are his short little legs not frozen???
You have a little something on your nose there, Dash-man. Isn’t it cold?
So the night it snowed we took him on a quick walk up our street. He could not have been happier! And we could not have been more frozen!
I hope you enjoyed the snow as much as Dash and I did and that you and loved ones were home safe. What is your favorite part about winter?

Hands down it’s how quiet the world is when covered with a fresh blanket of snow.

I completely agree Matt James. I love how peaceful winter can be, especially when covered in snow. Reminds me of the peace that God can bring. 🙂
