We’ve been working on a little home project over the last two weeks. You see we had severe water damage under our front door – the door jamb legs, the thresholds, and sub-floor were all rotted out in places where rain has leaked in for the last 18 years (the age of our home). Before we could lay our new hardwood floor up to the door, we, er the hubs had to repair all of that damage. And he ended up with no choice other than to remove the entire door frame set up side light windows and all. But that’s all for another blog post. 🙂 I’m here today to get your opinion on a new storm door. See the old one was in bad shape, so now’s the perfect opportunity to replace it. Below is our house before with the old storm door -it had white trim and an oval design.  We know that we want a plain storm door, but we can’t decide between black trim or white trim. So below is the plain storm door with black trim. And here it is with white trim.  Keep in mind that our house does have shutters that will go back up after they’ve been repainted black.   So what are your thoughts? Opinions? Your Vote? Choice? Leave us a comment and let us know.

I think if the white trim is as white as your mock-up shows (as in, whiter than the trim on your other windows) then go for the black. Otherwise, I think the white would look great and would coordinate with the trim around the glass on the windows. I also think that either color will end up working in the long run once you get the new portico built and less focus is on the door itself.
